cfda / vogue fashion fund red carpet favorites!

This Monday marked the 14th annual CFDA & Vogue Fashion Fund dinner with A-list guests ranging from Karlie Kloss to Nicki Minaj. The event was held at The Weylin in Brooklyn and marked one of the most diverse years to date. Designer Telfar Clemens won the $400,000 prize to continue his unisex line he started back in 2005.

At events like this, most people are actively involved in fashion, so their looks are usually out of this world. Check out some of my favorites below!

Lais Ribiero in Cushnie et Ochs

I love a suit for a red carpet! It’s an easy way to be sexy and sophisticated while still remaining effortless and minimal. The deep v blazer and flare trouser make this look special.

Martha Hunt in Cushnie et Ochs

I’m obsessed with the shoulders on this piece, and I love the idea of wearing white all year around! The buttons add a nice detail and the simple shoe was a smart styling move.

Sara Sampio in J. Mendel

J. Mendel is one of my favorite red carpet designers and this youthful look is no exception! This pale pink tone is perfect on Sara, and the combination of feathers and sparkles is flawless–not too much and not too little!

Soo Joo Park in Tome

This color made the dress! The pleats make it super feminine as well. Soo Joo’s red lip pulled the entire look together.

A runner up was defintely Nicki Minaj, who killed it in an Alexander Wang getup. If I had to choose one outfit to wear myself, I’d have to go with Sara’s J. Mendel piece– I’m all for the feathers this season!! I can’t wait for the next red carpet event for even more looks to obsess over!! ūüôā

Chicago Fashion Week 2017

This past Sunday, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the finale of Chicago Fashion Week and see several collections from up & coming designers, as well as an avant garde competition. Tony Long from FashionBar Chicago generously allowed myself and several other members from the Fashion Club of Notre Dame to attend the event as a learning experience. Breaking into the industry is challenging, but people like Tony make it easier to get your foot in the door.

My favorite designer I saw was definitely Chicago Playground, designed by Rodnell Jones II. His collection was filled with Letterman jackets, bright colors, and fun texture. My favorite jacket had the Chicago Cubs symbol on it! I loved all the references to Chicago in his work; it made each piece come alive.

Throughout the event, Tony spoke to the crowd about making Chicago a fashion city and a bridge between LA and NY. I think this is a great idea and could add a new industry to the city of Chicago to create even more commerce and jobs. I also wouldn’t mind being closer to a fashion city while I’m here at ND ūüôā

Thank you so much to Tony Long and the entire FashionBar team! You guys are incredible and this experience was amazing!

top looks: elie saab couture show 2016

1454514254105 1454514272841 1454514234897 1454514290534

elie saab typically always leaves me amazed. however, i was actually pretty disappointed by his show last week. i wanted to find my top 5 looks, but could only come up with 4 that i actually loved. although i do think these 4 looks are unbelievable, the rest of the show really left me unsatisfied.

something i LOVED:

the hair! the middle part and subtle waves with a headband is so simple and elegant!

something i DIDN’T LOVE:

although not captured above, saab did a lot of draping with beading underneath. i thought it seemed too busy.. see what i’m talking about¬†here.

ear cuffs

1454000527568

it is no secret that my ear cuff is one of my favorite accessories! it creates the illusion of having multiple piercings when you actually just have one. although they are often sold in sets of two, i usually just wear one on my left ear (because i part my hair on the left side) and then a stud that matches on my other ear. the one that i wear all the time is the Lulu Frost Pearl Ear Crawler- it was part of the trend event this summer while i was working at neiman marcus. check out some of my favorites above and look at the links below for purchase!

1) Lulu Frost: Stimulated- Pearl Ear Crawlers

2) Bauble Bar: Midsummer Ear Crawlers

3) Forever 21: Rhinestone Ear Cuffs
