Chicago Fashion Week 2017

This past Sunday, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the finale of Chicago Fashion Week and see several collections from up & coming designers, as well as an avant garde competition. Tony Long from FashionBar Chicago generously allowed myself and several other members from the Fashion Club of Notre Dame to attend the event as a learning experience. Breaking into the industry is challenging, but people like Tony make it easier to get your foot in the door.

My favorite designer I saw was definitely Chicago Playground, designed by Rodnell Jones II. His collection was filled with Letterman jackets, bright colors, and fun texture. My favorite jacket had the Chicago Cubs symbol on it! I loved all the references to Chicago in his work; it made each piece come alive.

Throughout the event, Tony spoke to the crowd about making Chicago a fashion city and a bridge between LA and NY. I think this is a great idea and could add a new industry to the city of Chicago to create even more commerce and jobs. I also wouldn’t mind being closer to a fashion city while I’m here at ND 🙂

Thank you so much to Tony Long and the entire FashionBar team! You guys are incredible and this experience was amazing!
